In our college four NSS units are functioning with the approval of Periyar University Salem. An advisory committee has been formed with the Principal Dr.N.Neelayathakshi as the chairman and Dr.P.Duraisamy as the convener. There are 400 student volunteers who stand as backbone of the activities undertaken in the nearby village areas recently.
The NSS units of the college actively participated in the following community services regularly throughout the year 2013-14
Counseling for Female students regarding Health, Hygiene and Nutrition,
Cleaning the environment,
Blood donation camps,
Prevention of drug addiction and rehabilitation of victims,
HIV/AIDS Awareness programs,
Welfare of women and child care.
ANNUAL REPORT OF NATIONAL SERVICE SCHEME 2012 - 2013
NSS volunteers are committed in periodic campus cleaning work ensuring the campus clean and green.
Celebrated Independence Day on 15.08.2012. Preparatory work and campus cleaning were carried out a day prior to the occasion.
On 24.01.2013 National Voter’s Day pledge was taken by the students and Staff members and the occasion was presided over by the Principal.
Republic Day was celebrated on 26.01.2013.
On 28.01.2013, NSS along with NCC and Nehru Yuva Kendhra organized a Voter Awareness Campaign and motivated people to poll their votes. In the campaign people were made aware of the significance of voting through organization of Cycle Rally and slogans. Also Essay Writing and Slogan Writing Competitions were conducted in order to identify and motivate the awareness among the students.
A seven Day Special Camp (11.03.2013 to 17.03.2013) was organized in Kurukkapuram Village. 150 NSS Volunteers participated in the special camp. Maintenance works were done in the Panchayat Middle School, Co-operative society, Milk Co-operative society, Panchayat office, Sakthi Nagar, Chelliamman Temple, Perumal Temple, Kamachiamman Temple and Peramariamman Temple. Village roads connecting Kurukkapuram with Kozhinchipatty, Ellapalayam and Sakthi Nagar were repaired by cleaning and clearing the thorny bushes. A Free Eye Check-up Camp was organized along with Namakkal Vaasan Eye Care Hospital. In the camp 350 old people and school-going children were benefitted. Students created awareness among the public about the Abolition of Child Labour, women’s Education, Importance of Voting, Need of Helmet and Road Safety, Environmental Pollution and Parental Care by staging dramas, giving short speech and singing songs.
